Yellow Ribbon Training

The military flew us to California and put us up in the nicest hotel to do some training and make sure we got all of our information for the upcoming deployment.
King size bed at the Westin.

Brian chilling in the awesome chair in the hotel room.

yeah they had a flat screen in our room...and do you see that treat tray? I thought I was being funny when I priced the "Nelson Hotel" water at $5.00....Well this water is $4.50, M&M's 4.00, Trail Mix or Cashews 5oz. was $8.00!!!! I couldn't believe it. Oh and if you take anything, there is a "re-stocking" charge. The tray was plugged in and weight sensitive! Really? Weight sensitive?

This is the first thing I did when we got there...jumped on the bed, and it was so comfy and they actually had good pillows. Everything was "heavenly", Heavenly shower head, Heavenly soap, Heavenly shampoo and conditioner (they were actually titled as such).

They fed us like Kings.

And then they started training... you can see how excited Brian is for it.

This guy was probably the only presenter that kept our full attention. He recieved 3 purple hearts in his military career. He talked about the different stages that you go thru preparing, during and after deployment.

How attentive can you be....

After I took this picture, I found out that the blonde is actually the soldier. I thought all female soldiers were "butch"....wow was I proven wrong!

At dinner.
Here are three of the "Battle Buddies", just missing Stevens.

They gave out tickets and drew our number so we won $40.00 in CASH!!! Yahoo!

Elko Trip

We went to Elko, NV in June to a Motorcycle Rally. Here are the pics :)
Here is our whole group at one of the gas stations.

Bryan and Airiel
We stopped at the Rainbow Casino for lunch.

Nash- now that is how you eat french fries :)
Brian- Nice bum where you from?
He's pretty sexy in chaps if you ask me...but I do have a bias opinion.
Bikes just lined the roads, this isn't even half of em.
They had tons of shops selling leather get up, patch work, du-rags, helmets, led lights, gaurdian bells, and any accessory you can think of.
Side note: Leather is more for protection than looks. I was surprised how many people didn't know that when I got home and was telling them about the trip.
Brian trying to be scary....
Muscle Car (sorry I couldn't figure out how to flip it)
Me trying to look like a hard A...Fail
these are patches you can get sewn onto your leathers. (not sure why the whole picture didn't load)
This was my Favorite part of the whole trip. Once you pick out your patch, you bring it to these big biker dudes and they use this 100 year old machine and sew it on for you. Is that not the greatest image ever!!!
These guys look so intimidating, but they are the nicest people you will ever meet.
Here we are after putting our "family crest" patch on. What do you think?
Airiel & Bryan waiting for her patch to be sewn on. We just had so much fun!
We took a ride up the canyon, it was so pretty.
This is the best picture we got before the battery died on the camera. (up the canyon)

They had a lot of different entertainment, motorcross, kareoke, contests, etc.

We had a ton of fun. We went to a resturant and there was SO much food. We had halibut and salmon and it was delicious. We went swimming at the hotels, got free breakfast at a resturant next door to the hotel. We spent a lot of money but got really good deals. We bought a leather vest for each of us, du-rags for each of us, half helmets for each of us, a leather jacket & chaps for me, and a gaurdian bell. There is a legend that ever since there were motorcyles on the road there have been little demonds dragging them down and making them crash. So the theory is that if you hang a guardian bell on your motorcyle, low to the ground, then the demonds will get trapped in the bell and the ringing will drive them crazy and they would lose there grip and let go (where do you think pot holes come from?).
Anyway I will stop blabbing, but we had a great time. Thanks Bryan and Airiel for inviting us!

Valantines Day 2010

I know this is WAY late, but now I know how to post pictures....
The weekend of Valantines day Brian was at a training for the military and told me to book a hotel for Valantines Day. So....I booked the "NELSON HOTEL" and had so much fun creating it, take a look!

I got online and learned how to fold the towels into swans and made chocolate covered strawberries.

Candles and "champane" (white grape juice hehehe)
Chocolate covered strawberries.... yum!

Can you see the rose petals on the floor?

....was this overboard? probably...

I thought I was exagerating when I put the price at 5.00, but then we went to a hotel that was 4.50...I couldn't believe it!!!

Hand towels in the bathroom

Towels in the bathroom

And last but definately not least, the toilet paper...its the little things right?

I had a little too much fun with it, telling him that I got a themed room (swans) and jetted tub, king size bed, flat screen tv in the room, but after thinking about it, I think I like the "NELSON HOTEL" better than any other hotel I've been to, besides having to do the room service myself...

50. Learn what everything under the hood of a car does

So last night my awesome husband gave me a lesson in cars. Let me tell you, I knew he was smart, but wow, I was just in aw of how much he knows about cars. This was his idea too! He knew it was on my list of 101 things to do, so he just out of no where decided last night was a good night to do it. I learned about the following things:
Starter
Alternator
Master Cylinder (with brake fluid in it)
Belt
Engine
spark plugs
pistons
windshield wiper fluid
where to check the oil (which I knew)
where to fill the oil
Coolant fluid
Radiator
Transmission fluid/ Clutch fluid
Struts
Calipers (also have pistons)
roter
Exhaust
air intake
air filter (for the engine & the air that comes into the car...2 different things)
how to change light bulbs
fuze box
And maybe a few more that I can't think of right now.

I just loved watching Brian teach, he's really pretty natural at it.  And when the oil needs to be changed....I get to do that too!!!
(You never knew I could be so excited about cars did you? Well neither did I!)

Goals 2 & 64

I finally got my kitchen chairs covered with plastic! They look great and once I accomplish one of my other goals of learning to post pictures, I will show you :) We also bought laptops, one for each of us. We ordered them online cause we couldn't find the one we wanted in stores. I'm a little nervous about getting them online, so we will see how they turn out. 4th of July was great! I LOVE this time of year, water play, family, flowers, fruit, BBQ's (potato salad and Burgers, my favorite), and sun. I hope everyone had a good holiday.
